USB to PS/2 adapters are entirely passive, and in order to function it requires that the controller in the mouse is designed to communicate in both protocols. Modern mice, especially wireless ones don't tend to have this capability anymore as PS/2 is all but a dead standard. Jun 16, 2013 · PS2 mouse and optimouse Arduino projects Once I had the Frankenprinter carriage working, I got interested in making it move according to some way other than issuing step or acceleration commands. And since I'd been interested in how the H-P printer was using a barcode-style mechanism for movement feedback, I went down the path of getting a ... Jan 21, 2012 · The IBM PS/2 shrunk the connector to a six pin mini-DIN connector, but retained almost all the other features. But if you want to do a tidy job, you’ll need some extra bits and pieces to hook them to your Arduino. Luckily, Sparkfun has a couple of cheap bits that will make it easy. Connect PS/2 Keyboard to Arduino: Hi everyone, this is also an Interesting project that brings 106 Inputs to your Arduino. Can't believe? Follow the project and see how this happens with a PS/2 Keyboard.OK First of all you needArduino (UNO)PS/2 KeyboardPS/2 Keyboard connector May 16, 2016 · Sources of Playstation 2 Sockets. The illustration below shows the Playstation 2 plug, and the pin labels. In order to connect to the Arduino we only need to connect the Data, Command, Ground, 3.3V, Attention, and Clock pins. The rumble motor pin only needs to be connected to a 7-9V supply if rumble feedback is desired. Playstation 2 Plug Pins PS2-Mouse-Arduino - Arduino/Wiring Library for interfacing with a PS2 mouse. Any advice appreciated! [Submission] PS/2 Communication library. The arduino PS2 system works - I have used it. Possible problems: It's not a PS2 mouse. You do not have a good 5V feeding the mouse. You have the clock and data lines swapped. You have not correctly assigned the arduino pins that the mouse clock and data are actually connected to. Feb 06, 2012 · In this article I attempts to explain aspect of the PS/2 mouse interface including How can you establish interface between your Arduino board and old PS/2 mouse. The PS/2 mouse interface originally appeared in IBM's "Personal System/2" computers in the late 80's and it remains a widely-supported interface. Arduino+PS2 Mouse=Speedometer/Odometer for RC car. I wrote a tutorial in order to be able to measure the speed and the distance your RC car does. Check the tutorial (based on the mouse input from the Playground), here https://webfiles.uci.edu/cagell/Dreambot/photo_gallery/photo_gallery.htm. arduino-ps2-mouse. A library to interact with a PS/2 mouse. The mouse works in the remote mode, i.e. you need to explicitly ask it to send the data. The library provides information about the pressed buttons, mouse position and the wheel(s) rotation count(s), if any. The following data structure is used: This would be possible only if the mouse actually supports PS/2. USB to PS/2 adapters are entirely passive, and in order to function it requires that the controller in the mouse is designed to communicate in both protocols. You have not correctly assigned the arduino pins that the mouse clock and data are actually connected to. The mechanical PS/2 mouse contains fairly high-resolution encoder wheels and a simple serial interface as well as electronics to process the quadrature input signals from the encoder wheels. There are Arduino libraries written to talk to the mouse and get the direction of the distance of rotation of the encoder wheels. Nov 14, 2014 · I am working on a project that involves a bar code scanner connected via serial (PS2). I have it and the other components hooked up properly to the spark core, but am running into problems porting the library. I have seen the other threads - the most relevant, although somewhat stale, is this one. Has anyone had any success in this department yet? If so, I would love an opportunity to pick ... Library to emulate PS2 keyboard/mouse using arduino Library to emulate PS2 keyboard/mouse using arduino. In this version i've fixed timing to improve reliability. I've integrated some keyboard protocol basics directly to library, so user don't need to do that. I plan the same for mouse protocol. Arduino+PS2 Mouse=Speedometer/Odometer for RC car. If you have an Arduino and an old PS/2 mouse lying around, perhaps this experiment by HomeFaciens will be of interest. In the video below, he illustrates how you can hook a mechanical mouse up to an Arduino board using a mechanical mouse’s +5v, ground, clock, and data pins. You also need a PS/2 mouse - any PS/2 mouse will be fine. Note that most modern mice use USB (which you don't want), but PS/2 ones are still very easy to buy for as little as £1 . The hack is pretty simple - we'll modify the radio control unit (car stays unmodified) so that instead of a human pressing the buttons, the arduino board will press ... In general, modern laser mouse is usually much nicer than the devices of the last century like this The PS/2 interface actively used in branded computers starting with 286 (IBM PS/2), but the COM-port for a long time remained the standard for connecting a mouse and actively used until the early 2000s (until the "second Pentiums" inclusive).
